LAFAYETTE - Mrs. Lillie J (Bufford) Jones, who would have been 86 Tuesday, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday at her home, 139 Park Ave. She had been in failing health several years. Mrs. Jones was born April 12, 1880 in Dover, Tenn. She moved to Birdseye, Ind., in 1898, and there married David W. (Todd) Jones. They moved to Ladoga in 1929, where he was a farmer. In 1945 they came to Lafayette. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Congress Street Methodist Church here and a former member of the Bethel Community Club at Ladoga. Surviving are the husband; a daughter, Mrs. Dale E. Giles of Lafayette; two grandsons reared in her home, Prentice Cummings of Rensselaer and Maj. William P. Cummings of the U.S. Air Force and stationed at McConnell AFB, Wichita, Kan.; six sisters, Mrs. Janie Wofford and Mrs. Flossie Crisp of Dover, Tenn., Mrs. Luna Williams and Mrs. Julia Fitzgerald of Granite City, Ill., Mrs. Alice Cherry of Clarksville, Tenn., and Mrs. Clarice Stone of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Orville Bufford of Madison, Tenn., and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services are set for l p.m. Tuesday at the Hippensteel Funeral Home where friends may call after 5:30 p.m. Monday. Revs. Newton T. Gottschall and Willard Knowles will officiate, and burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. - jlr
